This lovely old home in Bangalow dates back to around 1908 and has plenty of the original features that make these houses so appealing.
There’s timber lining on the walls and ceilings, wide floorboards, high ceilings and plenty of windows. I love seeing these features retained in older homes, especially when the renovations haven’t completely changed the character of the house.
The home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two sunrooms, along with a covered rear deck overlooking the garden.

Kitchen and dining
The kitchen has been updated, with modern appliances and plenty of storage. It’s a much simpler space than some of the enormous kitchens we see in renovated Queenslanders.
There’s also a separate dining area.

Living spaces
One of the things I like about this house is that it hasn’t lost its traditional feel. The timber floors, high vj ceilings and fireplace give the living room plenty of character.
The two sunrooms are another lovely feature. I always think these are such useful spaces, whether they’re used for reading, working or simply somewhere to sit away from the main living areas.

Bedrooms and bathrooms
There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a bathroom with a traditional clawfoot bath.
It’s nice to see an older-style bath retained alongside the more modern fittings.

Outdoor spaces
At the rear of the house is a covered deck overlooking the garden.
Bangalow has some wonderful older timber homes, and this one is another good example of how much character can be retained without keeping every part of a house exactly as it was a century ago.
