This little house in Ashgrove is a bit of a mixed bag. It has some breathtaking original features, like the VJ walls, high ceilings with pressed metal, stained glass windows and wide hallway. Seriously, have you seen anything prettier than these bay windows?
And this front door with the glass panelling above and to the sides. And one of my favourite features is when you open the front door of a Queenslander, it opens up onto a long, wide hallway.
This room of the house reminds me of our little rental Queenslander in Ashgrove. The back room had a sloped ceiling like this one and had the same window style / glass as well. For me, it just brings memories of first being married before kids….when our kids were our puppies. It’s definite nostalgia inducing. I think we even had the fluorescent lights as well.
On to the kitchen. This kitchen is very simple but can I say that I completely love it! I don’t know if it is the subway tiles (love) or the high ceilings with VJs or that window but I seriously love this kitchen. I know that it is not as fancy as some other kitchens I’ve shown in the past, but there is something about it that feels like home. And that’s how you want your home to feel, right? Like home.
Here’s the view from the dining room into the kitchen. Again those big windows are winning at life for me right now.
There are two bathrooms – an ensuite and a main bathroom. While I usually prefer a more neutral palette, I really dig this bathroom. Again, it’s nostalgia because our old Queenslander as a similar shade of green. It brings back all the memories. I adore baths with the metal railing for the shower curtain. It even makes shower curtains bearable.
