I’ve always loved acreage living. After years of living in suburbia, my husband and I were tired of living in what felt like a fishbowl. Our neighbour’s house was a double story home which overlooked our house and they could see straight into our lounge room. It meant that we always had the blinds drawn and it sometimes it felt like we were living in a cave.
We stumbled across our acreage home around five years ago and we love the space and the green surroundings that we wake up to every morning. Our acreage is what I call ‘bush acreage’ – meaning it looks like the Australian bush. Every year, we have koalas in our trees and there are always wallabies hopping around and making themselves at home.
This acreage, in Samford Valley, is very different to our acreage. Firstly, it’s mostly cleared, which allows your eye to run all the way down to the tree line. The full sun allows the grass to grow and provides for a ‘estate home’ feel.
There’s plenty of space with a large, open plan family room that opens up onto the deck through double french doors.
This Samford house was sold in 2016 for $1.1m (which honestly seems like a bargain). For more information, check out the listing.
