Today’s house is an 1800s (probably late, 1800s) Farm House in NSW and this home is just as good as the acreage homestead I shared with you earlier this week in the Noosa Hinterland. The real estate listing is filled with detail, which I’ll detail in this post.
Let’s jump in!
Lately I’ve been finishing my articles with the property video, under the heading “Want More, Watch This.” Today I’m starting with the video because once you watch it, you will want this home.
So incredible, right?! Let’s dive in deeper.
EATING SPACES
The video really sold this space to me. It’s an open plan kitchen, dining room that leads out to a deck. This house isn’t huge, it’s a three bedroom, two bathroom home with one living space. There is a small sunroom at the rear of the home.
The styling of this home for sale is in line with its farm house origins. Open shelving in the kitchen and that adorable little egg cupboard makes this room feel so homely.
To the left in the photo below is an external door that leads to the laundry and straight ahead is the living room.
LIVING SPACES
In the video, this room is called “the nook.” In my family, my son and daughter would perch themselves on that window seat and read a book. I’m sure that this little spot would be the cause of great joy and a lot of bickering over who gets to sit there! The floor to ceiling shelving here frames the look and the windows on the left let in so much light.
THE SUN ROOM
The sunroom is at the back of the farm house and leads to a small balcony / deck.
SLEEPING SPACES
In the main house, known as the Netherford Residence, there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Below is bedroom 3 which has been marked as the master bedroom, with an ensuite bathroom and dressing room and also opens up into the sunroom.
This is bedroom one, which is massive and the largest bedroom in the farm house. If used as a master bedroom, there is no ensuite, however, the robe room could be converted into one in the future, if that was desired. It may also work as a small study.
Below is bedroom two, which has windows that open up to the front verandah.
BATHROOMS
This the ensuite bathroom for bedroom 3. It is a family bathroom size with double sinks and a large bath.
The smaller bathroom is shared by bedroom one and bedroom two.
The laundry is not connected internally to the main house.
THE VERANDAH
At the front of the home is the verandah. Through the french doors is the robe room in bedroom one and the windows to the left look into bedroom two. This is another lovely spot to gather in the afternoon and watch the kids play in the garden.
THE BALE
From the listing:
The Bales is a gorgeously renovated self-contained dairy cottage where they will happily stay or you may use it as a B&B (STCA). The views from this gorgeous cottage are to die for and its patio offers a secluded, private retreat that’s not visible from the main house.
The Bale is self contained with one bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is simple. I love the server windows out to the patio area. That view is magic.
While The Bale is compact, the bedroom feels larger with the high ceilings and the long window that allow so much light and fresh air in.
The bathroom is also compact. I love the old wooden door.
THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Now for the outdoors, which are incredible. The farm house sits on 140 acres of rolling hills only five minutes from Mullumbimby and just 15 minutes to Byron beaches.
Witness spectacular sunsets over the Koonyum range.
Netherford is well suited for raising farm animals such as horses, alpacas or cattle, as the property is fenced and has a cattle grate at the entrance.
There are abundant lemon trees, Moreton Bay figs and a eucalypt forest plantation. The grounds include tastefully landscaped cottage gardens, generous vegetable patches plus lychee, mango, avocado and macadamia trees.
Plus, two creeks wind through the property and various dams provide water options, including a catchment dam with high elevation.
LET’S GET AN IDEA OF SCALE
Sometimes it’s hard to picture what 140 acres looks like. Like most large acreage properties, the home paddock is defined. Here there is plenty of space for the kids to run around and ride their bikes.
Stepping outside of the house paddock, you start to get an immediate sense of scale.
A bird’s eye view really highlights just how much space is around the property.
Finally, wow!
