Hidden behind the pretty facade of this porch and gable Queenslander is a really neutral, easy on the eye renovated Paddington home. Although lately I’ve been exploring more modern look Queenslanders (like this one in Hendra and this one in Highgate Hill), my heart really does belong the traditional looking Queenslander, both inside and out. And this Queenslander makes my heart beat faster.
She’s a pretty standard looking Queenslander from the street. Instead of being painted the usual beige or grey with white trim, the exterior has been painted white with dark trims. Along with the stained glass window in the front room, and the ornate verandah brackets, I’m really digging this view.
The interior of this home is gorgeous! Do you remember the house I posted with the white verandah? The photo of the verandah pushed that house into my favourites list. This house echoes that look. There is so much to love in this room. The arches, ceiling rails are gorgeous and the ash / grey floorboards look striking against the all white interior.
Moving towards the rear of house reveals the kitchen. It is neat and tidy with the sloped VJ walls that make my heart flutter. The skylight adds so much light into this part of the house. The only change I would make is to swap out the back splash tiles. They are the only things that my eyes see when I look at this photo. I would prefer tiles that blend into and add to the surroundings.
See what I mean. The black grout is too much.
Another view of the lounge / living area. Totally in love with the door that leads into one of the bedrooms. The styling of this room is perfect.
A compact back garden with a pool makes for a nice little entertainment area for both kids and adult guests.
This house, in Paddington, was passed in at auction in December 2017. It is currently for sale through Judi O’Dea and Michael Kleimeyer of Space Property Agents. The real estate listing is here.
