11 Sansom Street, Bangalow: a Queenslander like nothing you’ve seen before

This lovely Bangalow Queenslander is at 11 Sansom Street. Since I first featured it in 2019, property records show it sold for $1,266,500 in August 2020 and again for $1,825,000 in July 2025. It was shown as off market when I checked for this update.

The listing describes a restored 1920s Queenslander on 711 square metres, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a north-facing verandah. Below are the photographs and my original thoughts on the home.

This Bangalow Queenslander has made me completely weak at the knees. From the outside she is cute, with a neutral exterior and a white picket fence. The porthole window, the deep verandah and triple gables all add together to create a charming exterior.

I don’t know what I was expecting from the interior of this home when I first came across it. Without wanting to pre-empt it too much for you, let’s just say that this little 1920s Bangalow Queenslander is right near the top of my list of all time favourite Queenslanders. The neutral colour scheme and the sensitivity that it shows to the traditional architecture has propelled it above the rest.

I can imagine sitting at that kitchen table with a cup of tea and finding it very easy to stay a little longer than planned. There’s a lovely warmth to the timber, and the woven pendant light adds to that relaxed feel. It’s the sort of combination I’d happily borrow for my own home—a timber dining table, a few simple bench chairs and a woven light overhead.

I could happily settle into that grey sofa with a book, especially with a soft throw close at hand. I like the way the quieter colours let the timber floors and all that lovely fretwork stand out, while the round woven rug brings a little more texture into the room. It feels comfortable without needing too much, and a throw, a few cushions and a natural-fibre rug would be an easy way to bring some of that warmth into your own living room.
