Recently I’ve been talking about how sad it is that beautiful, historic Queenslanders are being removed from their blocks by Developers, eager to turn a profit.  Today’s house, while an absolute beauty, was also moved from her home on Dickson Terrace, Hamilton to Red Hill at least three decades ago.  I don’t know how I feel about this because I’m looking at it from a different angle. With the other homes, I’m looking at what has been taken away.  Today I’m looking at what has been given.  A home that was saved and served as a family home for decades and, thanks to the current owners, will continue to serve families for many decades into the future.

This house really is spectacular.  It has been beautifully renovated without losing the charm and character that comes with these special homes.

From the listing:

They [the owners] engaged highly respected architect Andrew Gildea to renovate the original house into an abundantly generous and welcoming double-storey entertainer with optional self-contained accommodation on the lower level.

Plus, it’s another home to add to my “Blue Queenslanders” post.

Exterior

From the listing:

Scenes of many a rugby game and cricket match have played out in the backyard which is rather astonishing in size and, along with a saltwater swimming pool, is viewed from a wide veranda wrapping around the open-plan kitchen/living/dining area.

I could totally see myself sitting down on the lawn with a tall iced tea on a warm spring day.  Or on a cold winter night with a roaring fire pit and the kids with marshmallows.

The photo below is the view into the office, on the upper level.

Living spaces

What an incredible photo – the wrap around windows are simply stunning.  This is the living room on the upper level.

This is the media room, also on the upper level.

I believe that this is the guest bedroom on the lower level, with a view out to the pool.

Eating spaces

There is a main kitchen on the upper level and a kitchenette on the lower level.  This is the kitchen on the upper level and it has a very country-esque feel.  A little like one of my all time favourite acreage homes in Maleny.

Verandahs

There is nothing better than a Queenslander verandah.  Nothing.  I love how this one makes you feel like you are living amongst the trees.

Sleeping spaces

There are five bedrooms in this glorious home – three on the upper level and two on the lower level.

This is the master bedroom on the upper level.  It is ensuited.

Another upper level bedroom.

Lower level bedroom.

Bathrooms

Below is the ensuite bathroom for the master bedroom.

This is the main bathroom on the upper level.

Other spaces

This home is enormous.  Below is the study / office on the upper level, complete with fireplace.

Outdoor spaces

Perfect for summer days by the pool.

A view from the top

For an inner city property, this house sits on a huge block of land.
