Recently, I did a post on a sweet little Queenslander in Bulimba. She was so sweet that I thought I’d show off some more little Queenslanders in the same area. I found this one. Beyond the white picket fence and cottage garden lies the sweetest little porch and gable Queenslander. Isn’t she delightful?
It’s been said that you can decide within a few seconds of viewing a house as to whether or not you want to explore it further. This house oozes street appeal with cream weatherboards, and highlighted dark blue trim. Just like yesterday’s house in Paddington, I’m really digging the white exterior + dark trim combo. Plus a black front door. This house is not showy, nor particular modern, and it is absolutely perfect!
Here’s a side view. It really looks like a fairytale house.
The front porch is adorable. The house is typical porch and gable style with two rooms at the front and a long hallway (with arches!) that leads to a living room at the rear of the house. Isn’t the sash window, plus the light fixture and the sweet little flower pots a lovely combination?
The living room is humble and unassuming with neutral colours and simple furniture. This rooms feels so warm and cosy – a combination of the natural palette and the warm timber floors and the cane furniture.
The floor plan is simple. The bathroom (not pictured) has heritage tiling and a claw foot bath and is a little awkwardly located at the rear of the house, off the dining room. This would have been a throwback to the original house design. In our rental house in Ashgrove the toilet was only accessible through the back door!
